What You Can Do to Fix a Malfunctioning ATI Device
If your computer is displaying a yellow exclamation point in a tab or menu, then it’s telling you that there’s something wrong with whatever it’s pointing to. Alternatively, a question mark will indicate that the computer can’t recognize a device.
If you can tell that you need to update your drivers, then you need to visit the ATI website. Here’s how to download and implement the latest ATI video drivers.
1. Visit the ATI website at www.ati.com. You will be redirected to AMD, which is ATI’s corporate name. Don’t worry; you’re in the right place.
2. Click the "Support and Drivers" link at the top of the page. This page contains all of the necessary downloads to update your driver.
3. On this page, you can search for your driver in two different ways: by Product or by Content Type. Click the icon next to "Download Drivers," or click the "Drivers and Downloads" link located underneath "Search by Content Type."
4. The Search Drivers and Downloads page will open. Choose your particular video card, chipset, or processor from the list. For this example, we will use the "All Graphics - Desktop" option.
5. Then, you’ll see the AMD Support Search page. By default, the product type and model you selected will be displayed in two menus. All you need to do is select your Operating System from the third menu.
6. Click "Submit." A list of available drivers and downloads will appear in the lower half of the page. For this example, we will choose the "ATI Catalyst ™ Display Driver for Windows XP Professional/Home".
7. Select the driver you wish to download and click the link for that driver. You will be redirected to the Download page. Simply click “Download” and your computer will begin downloading the driver. Save the file in a prominent location on your PC.
