Install HP Drivers to Maintain Optimal Printing Performance

HP is the leading manufacturer of computers and computing devices around the globe. This industry leader provides valuable downloads and information if one of their products malfunctions.

Replace Outdated Drivers

If you are having problems with an HP product, it’s important that you verify that an outdated or corrupt driver is causing problems. You can do this by analyzing the Device Manager. If it’s a printer, you can also take a look at the Printers and Faxes menu. This menu will inform you about any printers that need repair.

Download Drivers from the HP Website

You’ll need to visit Hewlett-Packard’s website at www.hp.com first. When this opens, click on the "Support and Downloads" link found at the top of the page.

Two menus will appear: Step 1 and Step 2. In Step 1, click on the oval next to "Download drivers and software" (and firmware.)

In the bottom menu, Step 2, you can input a product name/number to narrow down the list of drivers y
ou will have to browse. Or, you can simply select a product category.

Once you click on a product, that particular product’s page will open in the same window. You’ll need to specify exactly what type of product you are inquiring about. You might have to navigate through a bunch of different menus before you finally get to where you need to be. You will also need to select your operating system so that you download the correct driver.

Once you have selected your driver, you will be redirected to a page that contains informational content about the driver. This page will contain technical specifications, as well as instruct you if you need to make any changes to your hardware.

Click "Download Only" and your download will begin immediately. Remember to save the file in a place that you will remember.

Install Files, Restart Your Computer, and Test the Driver

Once the download has finished, double click the file. Microsoft’s security warning will appear, asking if you wish to run the file.

Click "Run."

If you have to unzip files, select a location where the system can extract the necessary files. You can choose the default location if you wish.

A Setup Wizard will automatically appear on your computer. Make sure you select "Traditional Install" within the Setup Wizard.

Finally, restart your system and then test the new driver. If you have updated any peripherals such as printers, video cards, etc., then make sure you actually use these peripherals and ensure that they work.
